While much ofRisk of Rain 2 is about the random insanity of every run, there is a fair amount of progression that stays with players after every run. Unlocking new items and characters through challenges is a core part of the game.

Challenges ask players to complete certain tasks that range in difficulty and unlock new items, skills, or even Survivors. There are many challenges to complete inRisk of Rain 2, with some being much more difficult than others. Here are the 10 hardest challenges that will test any player's skills inRisk of Rain 2along with how to beat them.

10/10 Moon Worshipper

Lunar items might be incredibly powerful, but they can be equally disastrous for certain runs with their negative effects. Moon Worshipper asks players to test their luck by carrying 5 Lunar items in a single run. They can be 5 different Lunar items, 5 of the same, or any combination of the two.

Players can farm the Obliterator to earn Lunar Coins, then complete a Drizzle run as MUL-T and open the Bazaar at the start of the game and purchase 4 items. Find one more item throughout the run and it should finish itself, but be careful as to what Lunar items are currently equipped.

9/10 Glorious Battle

Risk of Rain 2 Stone Titan fight.

To unlock the Berzerker's Pauldron, players will need to charge the Teleporter with less than 10% health. Players only need to be under 10% health when the Teleporter is about to finish charging.

Rex is a solid choice for this since his abilities can drain his health. If players don't have Rex, little can be done besides playing conservatively until a player's health total drops below 10%. Once that occurs, kill every enemy as fast as possible before the teleporter is charged.

8/10 [REDACTED]

One of Risk of Rain 2's most unique pieces of equipment is the Preon Accumulator. Similar to the BFG 9000 in the Doom franchise, this item fires a massive green orb that detonates for massive damage.

To earn it, players must reach Rallypoint Delta and open a timed chest in under 10 minutes. Since Rallypoint Delta is the third stage in most runs, players will need to quickly clear out enemies and loot with little time to spare. Alternatively, players can cheese this challenge by waiting for a Prismatic Trial where Rallypiont Delta is the first or second stage in the map to loot the chest immediately.

7/10 Blockade Breaker

If players wish to experiment with different primary attacks, they will want to complete the Blockade Breaker challenge. Defeating 15 bosses in one run will unlock the skill-changing Visions of Heresy and Strides of Heresy Lunar items.

Bosses from Teleporter events and stage bosses like the Alloy Worship Unit in Siren's Call count towards this challenge. It will take at most 15 stages to finish this challenge, so players should bring characters that scale well as runs progress such as Commando or Mercenary to make this challenge easier.

6/10 Blackout

Blackout is a challenge that requires players to defeat the unique guardian inside the Guilded Coast without any beacons deactivating. Since this guardian deals absorb amounts of damage, players will want to bring Engineer for his invulnerable shield and strong turrets.

Players should attempt this challenge on an easier difficulty and rush to reach this location, as the guardian's health pool reaches absurd levels if the run lasts over 30 minutes.

5/10 The Long Road

Every player should try to complete The Long Road challenge, for it allows players to obtain the 57 Leaf Clover—the strongest legendary item in the game. To complete this challenge, players need to complete 20 stages in a single run.

As with mostRisk of Rain 2 runs, it will ultimately require great luck and player skill to make it so far in a run. Players can choose to play on Drizzle to make enemies easier to kill, but 20 stages is a massive task for most players. Commando and Mercenary are solid picks for attempting this as Commando ramps up in strength heavily after one or two loops while a skilled Mercenary player is practically invincible by staying in the air while dashing between targets.

4/10 Commando: Incorruptible

Similar to The Long Road challenge, the Commando: Incorruptible challenge requires players to finish 20 stages in a single run as Commando, only this time players can't grab any Lunar items in the run.

This is best completed in co-op with a player that scales better in the earlier stages such as Loader. Commando is heavily item dependant, which means this challenge will mainly boil down to how many proc-coefficient items drop. Players can use the Artifact of Command to make this challenge significantly easier.

3/10 Mastery Challenges

Every Survivor inRisk of Rain 2 has an alternate skin that can be unlocked after completing a mastery challenge. Every mastery challenge asks the same of each Survivor: end the run through obliteration on Monsoon difficulty.

To reach the Obelisk to obliterate a Survivor, players will need to reach the third stage after a single loop or the eighth stage in a run. From there, defeat the Teleporter boss and a special portal will spawn. Interact with the Obelisk inside to end the run. Since Monsson runs are so difficult and RNG based, its best to simply practice with the character as much as possible and keep trying.

2/10 Huntress: Piercing Wind

Risk of Rain 2 Huntress Survivor

Most challenges that unlock new Survivor skills aren't too difficult, but Huntress' Piercing Wind challenge is an exception.

As Huntress, players must reach the Rallypoint Delta zone without falling below 100% health. Barriers and energy shields can be used to give a damage buffer, but this requires luck with item drops. Players will need to master their Blink ability and movement to not take any damage. Even taking as much as 1 HP worth of fall damage will fail this challenge. Ballista is absolutely worth the effort, however, but this challenge is easily one of the hardest in the game.

1/10 Mercenary: Etheral

Mercenary has a similar challenge to the Huntress. Ethereal requires players to complete a Prismatic Trial as Mercenary without falling below full health.

All items in a Prismatic Trial stay the same, which means players can do a few practice runs to form a strategy before attempting this challenge. However, this can also be a negative if the items in said chests are lackluster. Players should take full advantage of Eviserate's invulnerability period and focus on destroying time crystals to even stand a chance at completing this challenge. Unfortunately, Slicing Winds is one of the worst abilities in the game so players can safely ignore this challenge.
